How it works
Hiring a camper shouldn't feel like applying for a mortgage. Here's the whole process, start to finish — including the money bits other companies hide.
-
1 · Book online
Pick your dates, choose your camper, add any extras. The price you see is all-in — insurance, breakdown and 250 miles/day included. Pay a booking deposit (25% of the hire, minimum £150) and the dates are yours. Balance is due 4 weeks before you collect.
-
2 · Online check-in (10 minutes, from your phone)
After booking we'll send a secure link to upload: your photo-card driving licence, two proofs of address dated within 90 days, and a DVLA check code (free from gov.uk, takes two minutes — the link shows you how). We never ask for documents by email. Drivers need to be 25–70 with 2+ years on a full licence; EU and foreign licences have a manual check path.
-
3 · The deposit & excess, plainly
Before collection we take a refundable security deposit of £1,000 by card (Visa/Mastercard, not Amex or prepaid). It matches the insurance excess. A clean, undamaged van back on time = the full deposit back, normally within 3 working days. Some endorsements (like a single 6-point SP30) raise the excess — we confirm yours during checks, before your balance is due, never at the counter. An excess-reduction extra is available when you book.
-
4 · Collect & go
From 3pm on day one. We do a proper handover — gas, electrics, water, heating, the lot — walk round the van together, sign digitally, and hand you the keys.
-
5 · Bring it home
Back by 10am with the fuel as you found it. We inspect together, and your deposit is released. Then you start planning the next one.
Questions people actually ask
How does the security deposit work?
We take a refundable security deposit by card before collection — £1,000 for most drivers, matching the insurance excess. It's returned in full after the van comes back clean and undamaged, normally within 3 working days of inspection. If a driver's record carries an insurance loading, the deposit follows the adjusted excess and we'll tell you the exact figure before you pay your balance.
What happens if I need to cancel?
Cancel 28 or more days before collection for a full refund of what you've paid. Within 28 days a sliding scale applies — the exact figures are in our terms and on your booking confirmation, so there are no surprises.
Who can drive? What licence do I need?
Drivers aged 25–70 with a full UK licence held for at least 2 years are covered as standard. We check every driver with a DVLA share code before collection (we'll show you how to get one — it takes two minutes on gov.uk). EU and other foreign licences can usually be covered via a manual check; a couple of endorsement types carry a higher excess or need insurer approval — we'll confirm before you pay your balance.
What time is collection and return?
Collection from 3pm on your first day; return by 10am on your last. That gap is how we keep every van properly cleaned, checked and safe between hires.
